The main and only goal of this hike organized by Annette from DAAD FK was to have a chill walk to Kufstein from a nearby train stop. After I fractured my finger a week ago on the last hike to Vordere Kesselschneid (2002 m) I was limited in the gear I could wear or use, so joining was a perfect way to get some fresh air without overexerting myself.

The journey began as usual, with someone from the group missing the train. We arrived at the station and started going on the Kieferer Energiewanderweg.

Despite the snow on the mountain tops, the path down below was fully bare, allowing everyone to walk safely.

After we passed a nice waterfall and took some group pictures, we headed to the nearby lake and enjoyed the view of the distant mountains together with some ducks and large fish. Along the way we had to take a few detours due to closed off roads, but nothing major. I got to enjoy Pyramidenspitze (1997 m) in the distance from there as well.

Then, we headed down to Thierberg (721 m) to the small chapel they have there. Although there was construction work happening there, we were allowed to climb the stairs to the top of the tower, opening a great view of the surrounding mountains and Kufstein itself.

We also realized that the construction was to put and light up a Christmas tree on the top of the tower. We watched the tree being brought to the top and took some more photos, then headed down to the city.

After another small walk near a lake on the way, we reached the downtown area and headed to the fortress, where we enjoyed even more view during dawn and headed straight to the Christmas market.

For beginners not experienced in hiking up mountains, this is a good route offering nice views as a distraction from the city life. Have fun!

P.S. I couldn't wear gloves because of the cast for the fractured finger, so my hands were freezing the whole time.
