Schweinsberg Easter DAAD Tour

When we started the route together with Annette and DAAD scholars she assembled, I didn't know where exactly we were going, only that it's close to Bayrischzell and that we will be hunting for Easter eggs. I assumed the hike would be quite easy because of the number of newcomers that joined us, but this wasn't the case.

Although I wouldn't call it difficult, the gravel road up was quite steep, so people were getting exhausted quite fast. On the other hand, we had a nice view of Aiplspitz (1759 m) and Rotwand (1884 m) which compensated our troubles.

As we continued up, we turned from the gravel road onto a dirt path between the trees, which supposedly is part of the Medititationswnaderweg Fischbachau. We came to an open area with some huts around and headed to the summit.

We reached the Elbacher Kreuz (1510 m) and went a few meters further to Türkenköpfl (1512 m), took our photos and talked with some other hikers on the way to Wendelstein (1838 m).

We turned back and went past Zettler-Hütte, going on the hillside until we reached a saddle with a turn to Schweinsberg (1514 m). The whole side of the mountain was covered in all sorts of beautiful flowers, including white crocuses, that covered the grass in nice tiny patches.

I was also surprised that the sign at the saddle mentioned a wild skiing track going east. I'm not sure where the people are supposed to ski, since there was a forest and a water stream down below.

As we arrived at the top of the second mountain, we were ambushed by alpine choughs, and I had to give away my Beefy to them as reparation again, repeating events from Hochstaufen (1771 m). We also came across a group of russian hikers eating Easter bread and downing it with wine on the summit.

On the way down from the mountain we made a break in a nice grove and went Easter egg hunting. We split into two teams and hid them for the other team, then switching to search for them. The game ended in a draw and everyone left happy with a pile of sweets!

After we took a bus to Miesbach, we still had some time before the train, so we went to the Station's Kebap House and got some food for the road.
