This event came to be as an invitation to a group hike from Annette without many additional details. I've already been on the mountain alone, but reliving the experience in a group seemed appealing enough for me to go there again. Besides, I remembered that the hut near the top was really great and I didn't mind visiting it to enjoy some coffee with Kaiserschmarrn.

The meeting time was pretty late to begin with, being even more delayed by a group member missing the train connection, so I unusually had plenty of time to sleep, rest, and recover before the journey. After meeting the group and travelling to Lenggries, we set of on the waterfall Winterweg to Seekarkreuz (1601 m). We did some minor breaks along the way, some members put on shoe spikes and hiking sticks, and we pushed on until the Seekaralm valley.

There we took some photos and headed to the hut for a short toilet break. Unfortunately, the hut turned out to be closed, ruining our future plans of having a snack there.

Isil, one of our group members, realized she lost her phone somewhere on the valley. After frantically running back and forth looking for it, calling the number when there was a cellular connection, and talking with passerby hikers, eventually someone picked up the call. Turns out they found the phone but couldn't figure out if we were going up or down, so they started descending with the phone. Annette arranged with the savior to drop the phone off at a restaurant on the bottom of the mountain. After that we could continue the hike as usual. The final stretch of the way to the top was just as muddy as I remembered it to be, but the view from the top was great, showing popular mountains from Tegernsee, Spitzingsee, Lenggries and of course Zugspitze (2962 m). We wrote our names into the visitor book tucked away in a box attached to the cross, took some photos and headed back.

The descent was uneventful, following the same route I took myself last year, but having company made it much better. After arriving at the bottom of the mountain we had a quick snack at the restaurant where the phone (a "purple iPhone 14 Pro Max") was waiting for Isil, then split up to take the appropriate trains back.

To conclude, I would say this hike is worth the effort and is definitely going into the category of hikes to go on with newcomers.
